Expats: Holland needs your vote for 2016 ‘Original Cool’ campaign

The Netherlands is one of those crazy countries that just seems to effortlessly get everything right, from those little windmill cookies to global business.

It’s also a pretty great place to live … safe, beautiful (in its own humble way), harmonious and peaceful. And if you’ve spent anytime there, you know they make some zany freakin’ videos.

If you agree, Holland needs your help

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 8.36.53 AMWe just got an email stating Holland has just been nominated for what The New York Times calls, “The Internet’s highest honor:” The Webby Awards.

The Webby Awards recognize “excellence on the Internet,” which in and of itself is a rare thing these days. So, with some skepticism, we checked out Holland’s entry, “The Original Cool,” a video in the running in the travel & adventure category. A video in which they kidnap like the least cool American ever and take him to Holland.

It’s a winner. Trust us. Ah, don’t trust us. Check it out! (We tried to find it on Youtube, but you can only see it on the Webby Awards website here.)

From the email: The “Holland. The Original Cool.” campaign has earned our friends at the Holland Marketing Alliance, together with the Mustache Agency, a final spot in The Webby’s People’s Voice Awards for best online film & video in the travel & adventure category. The campaign showcases the Netherlands’ long history of “cool” when it comes to art, design, architecture, eco-consciousness and more.

Help push Holland to the final spot. Click here to vote. Only eight days left before voting closes!

The Holland Marketing Alliance team – the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Marketing – is not only behind this ad, but the entire “The Original Cool” campaign, which is a series of videos with Pim de Koel. Whoever he is, he’s cool.

About the Webby Awards

Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) — a 1,000+ member judging body. The Academy is comprised of Executive Members, leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities, and Associate Members who are former Webby Winners, Nominees and other Internet professionals.
