Invest–NL and Invest International merging into one sovereign fund
The sovereign wealth funds Amsterdam-based Invest-NL and Invest International, based in Den Haag, will merge into a new national financing institution starting at the end of 2027, according to media reports. The working title is “Invest XL.” The combined funds will be able to finance larger investment rounds … and might eventually raise its funds on the capital market.
Invest-NL invests in innovative companies, while Invest International helps Netherlands-based companies do business abroad. The Invest merger is “essential for companies to grow both nationally and internationally,” according to media reports. The new invesment entity will support companies and projects with venture capital and long-term loans. The new institution will soon be able to do “much bigger things,” according to Rinke Zonneveld, CEO of Invest-NL “We can take on projects that we are currently too small for individually. We can also support companies throughout their entire life cycle, for example.”
Invest International CEO Melanie Maas Geesteranus expects the merger will also be more attractive to co-financiers. “We will soon have more to offer as an organization, hopefully be able to attract larger capital, and be a one-stop shop for companies,” Geesteranus is quoted as saying.
Invest-NL and Invest International currently have about 4 billion euros in risk capital available.
