We have three new events coming up – our second FastTrackathon, a mentor event and another SmartConnect where we invite in startups for free advice and a beer (or two.)

MENTOR COMMUNITY MONTHLY MEETING, Tuesday, 14 May
Want to work with brilliant deep-tech startup teams of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds?
Join us 14 May for our Mentor Community Monthly Meeting.
If you have participated in the earlier HighTechXL mentor pool or if you’re interested in working with our new deep-tech startups based on advanced technologies, we invite you to join us for this fun, informative event.
If you do, we’ll introduce you to the current cohort of three CERN startup teams. Aircision, Incooling and Dynaxion will be on hand to talk about their startups, which are entering the last of the 3-phase accelerator program.
Incooling would like to meet mentors with the following relevant experience
- High Frequency Trading (HFT)
- Commercial refrigeration systems/HVAC
- High performance computing/data centre industry
- High-pressure fluidic systems
- Microfluidics, thermodynamics and MEMS fabrication
Dynaxion would like to meet mentors with the following experience:
- Financial expert on funding and cash flow statement for investment
- Patent experts
- Legal expert in the future when the consortium is in place
Aircision needs to borrow equipment to conduct the world’s first Free Space Optics 5G communications test and is recruiting an experimental physicist with a specialty in optics.
They will discuss further guidance and assistance they need from mentors at this phase of the program.
We’ll also introduce you to the latest deep technologies – holographic emitter technology and CO2 capture and conversion technology – and you can meet the teams who will build ventures to take these technologies to market.
The mentor event is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 May from 16:00 to 18:00 in Building 27 on High Tech Campus. Feel free to bring a colleague or friend interested in mentoring our deep-tech startup teams. We’ll have drinks, snacks and networking after the event at the Netherlands’ largest startup hub.
FASTRACKATHON, Wednesday, 26 June
Our first reverse hackathon – we supply the tech, you supply the genius – was a huge hit, even by our lofty standards. Almost 60 people – most with tech/engineering expertise – showed up in March to see the reveal of advanced tech from CERN, TNO and Nikhef, then jumped on teams to take that tech to market.
So, how can we possibly top that? You’ll just have to sign up and find out.
To be clear, FasTrackathon is NOT just for techies! We’re recruiting from many domains – entrepreneurs, physicists, engineers, market researchers, operations experts, and marketing and business professionals. We want people with an affinity for tech and need the finest entrepreneurial minds in the land.
We are recruiting teams per technology, but we’re flexible … participate just for this event or join a venture-building team to co-found a compan, then go all the way.
FasTrackathon is set for 26 June, 10:00 to 17:00, at HighTechXL, Building 27, High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Registration starts at 09:30. Please pre-register today here for this cool event!
SMART CONNECT, Monday, 24 June
It’s time for another SmartConnect, one of our most fun projects. We invite startups from Eindhoven’s ecosystem to HighTechXL to impart some advice and wisdom gleaned from years of accelerating startups, along with a healthy dose of encouragement.
While HighTechXL is focused on deep tech, we’re happy to talk with all startup teams. HighTechXL executives and team members have decades of experience building businesses. They’ve seen it all and done it all … and they’re giving all that institutional knowledge away. For free!
SmartConnect is an informal meeting of minds, so do NOT wear a tie. You’re free to brainstorm with expert pools to get detailed feedback about where you are in the process of building your company.
So, get ready to get smart and get connected … which any investor will tell you is an essential step toward success.
Roundtables are set up with experts on finance, IP, team building, business plans and other topics, and teams rotate through the evening. The roundtable format gives each group about 20 minutes with each expert panel.
