We all know about China’s growing appetite for investing in European startups. Less well-known is that Taiwan also is extending a helping hand if you’re in the right industry sector.
We just got an email from Elan Huang at Garage+ in Taiwan about the Startup Global Program, their effort to identify and recruit promising startups.
From Elan’s email:
Up to now, 10 Dutch teams have been invited to Taiwan, and some have established the collaboration with the companies and investors through Garage+ connections. We believe Taiwan will be a valuable partner of the Netherlands in business as well as technology exchange.
Starting today, your team can apply to Startup Global Program 2018 in Taipei, which runs from 31 May to 13 June. What caught our eye was the fact that 75 percent of the startups that have gone through the program found funding.
You must apply by 16 March, and you can do that here.
Here’s what selected startups get in the 10-day program:
– Excellent booth location at COMPUTEX, one of the world’s most renowned ICT trade shows with 40,000+ international buyers from 167 countries
– 1-on-1 meetings with top-level decision makers from key players in the global supply chain
– Site visits to explore partners in manufacturing, market development, and investment
– 2 return flight tickets and free accommodation
Garage+ is an incubator, part of a thriving startup ecosystem “supported by experienced and successful entrepreneurs,” according to their website. You can see their full pitch deck here. (This is a .pdf, and be sure to look at the entire infographic, which has everything you need to know about funding, visas, travel and all the minutiae.)
This program has been up and running since 2015. Garage+ recruited several Dutch tech startups including some of the entrepreneurs we know from HighTechXL and High Tech Campus here in Eindhoven. We just talked to the Bambi Medical team, who went through the Startup Global Program and the giant Computex trade show last year, and they give both two thumbs up.
This is a complete package including a spot at Computex, one of the largest ICT trade shows in the world, as well as transportation to Taiwan and a place to stay once you get there.
IF … if you’re chosen.
Here are the details from Elan:
Garage+ is kicking off the Startup Global Program(SGP) 2018, a free 10-day visitation for startups to explore the markets, business, and investors in Asia. During the visitation, startups will have one-on-one meetings with decision makers from leading corporations. Besides, we will lead them to join the COMPUTEX, the 2nd largest ICT trade show with over 40,000+ international buyers and dealers. Up to now, 10 Dutch teams have been invited to Taiwan, and some have established collaborations with the companies and investors through Garage+ connections. We believe Taiwan will be a valuable partner of the Netherlands in business as well as technology exchange.
Warm regards,
Elan
