Phuket is home to many of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, each with a unique atmosphere and authentic experience.
Patong Beach
Patong is a center of Phuket’s nightlife, the number one of top beaches in Phuket with the best infrastructure. It has well-developed beach infrastructure with zones for suntanning, watersports and active rest.
Travel tip: Nature lovers wil be impressed with a sunset show, starting every day at 18:35 (It’s recommended to come here around 18:15 when the sun goes down. Since Phuket is at 8-degrees north latitude – just above the Equator –sunset and sunrise happen at roughly the same time every day.
Paradise Beach
Paradise beach is a small, private-style beach just a short 15 minutes drive away from Patong with soft white sand and calm turquoise water.
Travel tip: Be ready to pay 200 baht entrance fee, which is quite reasonable for beach facilities and excellent swimming conditions provided.
Tri Trang Beach
Tri Trang beach is located half a way from Patong to Paradise beach, free of charge and popular with families and long-stay visitors.
Travel tip: Always check the tide table, because swimming conditions depend on it, and the beach may literally disappear in high tide.
Freedom Beach
Freedom beach is a hidden gem among Phuket island beaches, accessible mainly by boat or a steep jungle path.
Travel tip: There is a toll road along which you can reach the beach for 100-200 baht depending on the time of year and season, or get a ride by car for around 400 baht. Or you may always use a free jungle path, but be ready for an intense tracking.
Merlin Beach
Merlin beach is not on the list of well-known Phuket beaches. The place is rarely mentioned because it belongs to the Marriott Hotel, but there is a path down the hill, free of charge.
Travel tip: Take coral shoes and a snorkeling mask to explore underwater.
Kalim Beach
Kalim beach is less crowded than Patong. The area has a more local atmosphere with a few excellent sunset restaurants nearby on the left hand, or a night market on the right hand.

Naithon Beach

Travel tip: Naithon is suitable for snorkel, but it’s best to choose the left side of the bay for that.
Banana Beach

How to Get Around Phuket
Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, covering an area of approximately 576 square kilometers. Meanwhile, many tourists stay in the area of one beach and never leave its boundaries, there are options for active globetrotters that will allow you to easily explore the island.
- Taxi(Grab/InDrive).
- Rent a bike/car.
- Songthaew. There’s a bus from the airport that goes to the distant beaches around the island and songthaews from the beaches.
The fare can vary from 100 to 300 baht per taxi bike, or from 40 to 100 baht for songthaew.
